The pain of a toothache can be debilitating. It affects every part of your everyday life. For fast relief from a bad toothache, the answer is simple: See your dentist. This, however, is not always possible immediately. You may have to wait a day or even more, before you have a chance to visit. The following paragraphs supply some basic remedies to use while waiting.

Medication

There are various different types of medicine to help you get rid of the pain of a toothache. A local drugstore, grocery or even retail outlet should have the right medicine options to stop the pain. Among them are various synthetic products designed to relieve all aches. Some freeze the immediate tooth and the area around the gum. This effectively acts to ease the pain and acts as a temporary remedy.

You can find a non-prescription name brand. Many stores also carry an affordable no-name brand to treat toothache that is often less-expensive but just as effective in obtaining temporary pain relief.

Home Remedies

For a fast and simple pain relief, many turn to simple home remedies. A basic and common home treatment is to use oil of cloves. You often find this readily available home remedy on a kitchen shelf. If not, you can purchase it at any grocery store.

The method of use is simple. Place one or two drops on the bad tooth. Be careful not to touch the lips. If you do so, it will “freeze” your lips. The effect is similar to an over-the counter medicated treatment. It “freezes” the tooth. Oil of cloves moves quickly to relieve the pain.

You can pick other options from the list of approved home remedies. Chewing fresh tarragon leaves or replacing clove oil with peppermint oil are effective. Just make sure you dilute the peppermint oil with a carrier oil such as vegetable, sunflower or olive oil. Alternatively, you can chew or suck on ice cubes.

Cautions

Neither home remedies nor medicated “cures” are effective means of curing or preventing future toothaches. A bad toothache is preventable, but not through such methods. You need to adopt good oral hygiene. This includes brushing your teeth daily with a safe product such as OraMD. You must floss and avoid using bacteria-increasing alcohol-based mouthwashes. Only by taking proper care of your teeth can you avoid the cause of bad toothache.

Conclusion

Toothache can strike an individual at any time. While you can find fast relief from over-the-counter and home remedies, these are not cures. You must address the cause of toothache – poor oral hygiene. Once you adopt this approach, you can get rid of, or at least reduce the problem.

Sometime in one’s life, there is a question that will to come to mind as to who the father of your child is. When you are in doubt as to the paternity of your child, this is maybe the time to ask the potential father to submit himself to a DNA test. It is not just enough merely looking at their physical characteristics because this is not a certainty of his being the biological father to your child. This DNA testing; or home DNA testing when done at home, will be needed if you want support paternal support as well as financial support from the father of your child.

It is difficult to convince the potential father of your child to submit to a DNA testing but this is the best way to prove if he is really the father of the child. But since a legal DNA paternity test is acceptable in court, it is easier to get him convinced to a DNA test, or even have Home DNA testing. The DNA samples of the potential father and the child in question should be taken and submitted to a DNA test lab. The DNA samples are usually taken quickly and without pain.

Legal DNA paternity tests provided by the DNA labs involves a number of processes done and these are highly safeguarded making sure that the test results are secured and safe. These results are highly accurate and ensured that they are delivered promptly. Accuracy is done by requiring the parties strict checking of their identification and a copy is sent to the lab. Their photos are also taken and these become part of the recorded DNA test results. The DNA samples, taken from both parties, are taken from the inside of the cheek with the use of a cotton swab, will be taken by a third party who have nothing to do with both parties as well as the result of the DNA test. This is still a part of the validity, reliability and security of the DNA testing and so with the outcome of the results.

The DNA samples, once they are sent to the lab, are monitored securely which means that not everyone can have access to it. Anybody who gets a chance of accession will be properly recorded, together with their location and other vital data to eliminate the risk of loss, tampering and mix up of the samples and results. Paternal DNA testing compares certain DNA “alleles” that is present in the child and both parents, a determinant of parental relationship. 50% of the child’s genetic makeup is contributed by both parents, and the DNA test examines this match. If the child’s DNA lines up with half of the parent’s DNA, there is a relationship; likewise if there is no match, there is no parental relationship. Because DNA is highly individualized, the results are certainly accurate and you will definitely obtain the truth about your child’s paternity.

Getting accurate results of a DNA result can be used to get child support, establish who the father of your child is, finalize the child’s birth certificate, and entitle your child to the father’s social security. This is a great help not only to the total development of the child but to the parents’ disposition as well.

In the coming winter months, it is important to keep your body warm in order to have a good night sleep and get rejuvenated the next day. Keeping the body warm is also vital to good health. Heated mattress pads, like the king heated mattress pad, is the safest way to protect your body from extreme cold. King heated mattress pads are used to warm up the bed before one snuggles into it. Warmth is then maintained and automatically adjusted all through the night to provide more comfort to the sleeper.

But king heated mattress pads are not only used as bed warmers, it can also be utilized as mattress protector. During the day or fairly warm night and when it is not plugged in, the heated mattress pad can be used as a mattress topper. Here are the benefits of heated mattress pad as a mattress topper:

As you probably have experienced, the mattress is very difficult to dry when spilled with any liquid. The heated mattress pad can act as waterproof mattress protector, not allowing the liquid to be absorbed by the mattress.

Another advantage of using heated mattress pad as under pad is to repel unwanted stains and marks on the mattress. Perspiration and sweat causes yellowish stains on the mattress especially when it has not been washed for a long time. Stains and marks can be avoided with heated mattress pad as they are absorbed by the detachable pad wherein stains are easily removed, washed and cleaned.

Heated mattress pad spares the mattress pad from frequent vacuum cleaning. Only the regular washing and drying of the removable mattress pad is needed if you have a mattress topper. The mattress is spared from being damaged due to constant stress and frequent washing.

4. When the mattress is being protected by a heated mattress pad, it becomes less susceptible to contamination of microorganisms despite being left unwashed for quite some time. Heated mattress pads are easier to maintain and to wash.

Heated mattress pads also protect the sleeper from allergens and irritants that may be present in the mattress. Those who are susceptible to asthma and skin allergy are defended by the mattress pad from the harmful dust that may have accumulated in the mattress. It also prevents skin irritation that may be caused by bugs and mites.

Waterproof mattress pads are the solution to molds and mildew which grow on damp mattress. You may not be aware of it but mattresses absorb the humidity, small amount of water and sweat easily making it damp. When there is a mattress pad, mold and mildew can not easily infiltrate

Heated mattress pads also serve many uses when used as a mattress topper. Aside from protecting people’s health, it also protects mattress’ life.

Author: lazaraus

Back pain is very common and affects 4 in every 5 people. Most of us will experience some type of back pain in our lifetime and as you may know it’s not a pleasant feeling. It’s one of the most common problems why people seek medical care and it costs the US alone, billions of dollars.

Fortunately most cases of back pain can be treated however before that can happen, you need to find out the type of back pain you have and what’s causing it. You should visit your doctor and then a chiropractor and you will find out more about your back condition.

So what are the causes of back pain? Back Pain can result in many ways. The following are some of the reasons why back pain occurs:

Muscle trauma
Injury
Issues with nerves or nervous system
Infections
Circulatory discords
Ageing of the back
Spinal disk issues
Stress
Sleeping positions

You’ll be happy to know that most cases of back pain will disappear after a few weeks. However if you’re experiencing a more severe type of back pain, than it’s very important to understand the treatment options that are available to you.

Now you may find that your back condition only requires a few exercises to relieve the pain, unfortunately that won’t help every person so that’s where chiropractors and surgery come in to play. The chances that you will require back surgery are slim so try not to let that bother you.

Chiropractors

Chiropractic treatment is a method which many back pain sufferers find eases their pain. Chiropractors will not only crack joints but also massage and stimulate required muscles. The main goal of achiropractor is to stimulate movement in the spine and therefore increase functionality while decreasing back pain.

If you’re considering chiropractic treatment, please consult with your doctor beforehand, as it’s not safe for everyone.

Surgery

As mentioned previously, back surgery is quite uncommon and only used in severe cases of back pain. Most back pain sufferers will find comfort in using the natural methods like exercising and massaging. Back pain will usually disappear after a few weeks even if you choose to let your back heal its self. A small percentage of people however will experience pain which will either not disappear using other methods, or simply just won’t go away – this is when back surgery may be used.

Surgery is quite a complex issue but generally with back surgery either of the following procedures is undertaken:

Disk removal
Artificial disk replacement
Vertebrae fusing

Before agreeing to surgery, get a 2nd opinion from a qualified person, however with all this said, it’s a long process towards back surgery so make sure you have exhausted all other options first.

Exercises and Stretches

Back exercises and stretching are preferred over most other treatments and can be very effective in strengthening your back muscles and decreasingback pain.

You should definitely look into back exercises and stretches and see how you go with them. They are easy to do and won’t take up too much of your time, and best of all, it should definitely help yourback pain.

Before beginning, please consult with a qualified physician, as you don’t want to harm your back more.

Fortunately for most people healing back pain wont be a problem so however it’s definitely not something to ignore and should be dealt with as soon as possible.

It is of prime importance that the obstetrician’s take a thorough breast examination of pregnant women to detect breast cancer. Often, the diagnosis is delayed because doctors and pregnant women assume that lumps in the breast are due to normal hormonal changes.

The threat of breast cancer is upsetting for anyone, particularly during pregnancy, but it is not uncommon. Pregnant women and physicians should become more aware of the risk associated with cancer. The obstetricians are usually more focused on the health of the unborn baby than the mother’s possible illness but should be more aware of the risk of breast cancer. Women should examine their breasts regularly and tell their doctor about any changes they discover.

Not only is diagnosis often delayed, but there is a high rate of false-negative results of a mammography due to the increased density of the breast during pregnancy.

Ultrasonogaphy is the best way to check for cancerous lumps in pregnant and lactating women. Many studies have shown that the tumors in pregnant women are larger and are more likely to spread.
Pregnant women should be encouraged to know that treatment is as successful and safe as in non-pregnant women. Surgery is the best route although there is a small risk of premature labor. Radiation therapy is not offered during pregnancy but patients can be safely treated with certain forms of chemotherapy from three months onwards. This may be continued after the baby is born, although mothers should not breast feed their babies while they are having chemotherapy.

Treatments are planned around the expected delivery date and are administered as close to term as possible, Through the process, oncologists communicate regularly with a woman’s obstetrician.
A substantially greater number of pregnant women have been treated now than ever before, providing a growing confidence in the safety and positive outcome of chemotherapy for pregnant breast cancer patients Carter and baby Emma are perfect examples. Weighing 5 pounds, 14 ounces, Emma entered the world with a “full head of hair,” laughs Carter, who says she was “completely bald” when her “miracle child” was born.

Overall survival of pregnant women with breast cancer may be worse than in non pregnant women at all stages however, this may be due primarily to delayed diagnoses. Termination of pregnancy has not been shown to have any beneficial effect on breast cancer outcome and is not usually considered as a therapeutic option. Termination of pregnancy, however, may be considered, based on the age of the fetus, and if maternal treatment options, such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy, are significantly limited by the continuation of the pregnancy.

Many find it difficult to make a distinction between fibromyalgia, also known as FM, and chronic fatigue syndrome, particularly because the symptoms of both illnesses are very similar. Even doctors and experts, up until now, cannot definitely say if CFS, short for chronic fatigue syndrome, and FM are two different diseases with like symptoms, separate aspects of one disorder, or two completely distinct illnesses.

Issues surrounding fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome became even murkier after an FM/CFS expert released his findings in a National Fibromyalgia Association publication in September 2002. According to the findings of Dr. Charles W Lapp, around 70% of people suffering from FM also qualify for CFS, and about the same percentage of CFS sufferers also manifest symptoms of FM.

Definition of FM and CFS

Fibromyalgia is a condition characterized by chronic musculoskeletal aches (particularly in tender points such as spine, neck, hips and shoulders), insomnia, and fatigue. Although it is unclear what causes such a disease, it is believed that lack of nutrition and problems with the hypothalamic and immune functions could exacerbate or trigger the syndrome.

Chronic fatigue syndrome, on the other hand, is characterized by severe fatigue, experienced during not less than six months. Sufferers of CFS also experience muscle and joint pains, sore throat, non-restive sleep, and general malaise after performing physical activities. Sometimes, especially after a strenuous activity, CFS patients display temporary concentration, cognitive and memory lapses.

Similarities between chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia syndrome

As mentioned earlier, the two conditions share quite a number of similar symptoms. If you think you are suffering from one of suchillnesses , you need to consult several doctors. A physician whose expertise is in infectious disease might see your symptoms as chronic fatigue syndrome, while a pain and rehabilitation doctor could look at your symptoms as FM.

Most common indications or symptoms of both FM and CFS sufferers are joint and muscular pain, severe fatigue, inability to concentrate, memory lapses, numbness, malaise, and weakness. Meanwhile, clinical likeness of the two includes non-restive sleep or insomnia, lowering of growth hormone and serotonin levels, and diminished blood flow in certain parts of the brain.

Aside from having similar symptoms, both diseases are also more common in women than men. In FMS, women are about eight times more susceptible than men. Both diseases also occur more often in adults than in children.

Differences between CFS and FM

Although patients of both illnesses suffer muscle pain and fatigue, the degree or severity of the two symptoms will help distinguish chronic fatigue syndrome sufferers from fibromyalgia patients. People who experience predominantly debilitating fatigue suffer from CFS, while those whose main symptom is chronic pain in joints and muscles have FM. Another stark difference is that CFS is prompted or initiated by an infectious illness, such as influenza. On the hand, FM is usually triggered by injury, surgery, accident, or a type of physical trauma.

How CFS and FM are diagnosed?

Unlike in certain illnesses where laboratory, blood and x-ray findings help determine the disease, both FM and CFS can only be determined through medical history and clinical findings. If you feel that you are suffering from either one of thediseases , you should be more precise in describing what you are feeling. It is important to tell everything to your doctor, even the minutest discomfort or changes in your body, because these little things will be a great help in diagnosing the disease.

Managing FM and CFS

Since there is no known drug that could cure fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue syndrome, doctors usually concentrate on treating the symptoms or the triggers or causes of the conditions. Given that there is no definite cure for bothillnesses , the best that you can do, if you suffer from CFS, FM or both, is to manage the disease. Here are some tips that could help you:

Know your illness

The first thing you should do, when diagnosed with either of the two conditions, is to research and learn as much as you can about your condition. It would be easier for you and your doctor to communicate and discuss the disease and possible treatment plans or options, if you have a certain degree of knowledge about the disease. The Internet, local libraries and journals and magazines can help you with learning more about FM and CFS.

Eat healthy and have plenty of rest

It is very important for people who suffer from both CFS and FM to eat a well-balanced diet, particularly because some diseases can trigger them. Furthermore, some types of food could exacerbate your symptoms, like too much caffeine could make it difficult for you to sleep well. Adequate rest and sleep could also help alleviate some symptoms, like depression, stress and non-restive sleep.

Laugh and have fun

Stress and depression can only make matters worse. Thus, you need to be happy more often. Remember, that sometimes laughter is the best medicine.

An anxiety attack is a short period of overwhelming fear that comes on with no warning and for no rational reason. An anxiety attack can be a one-time event, but most often is an ongoing problem. Those who experience regular anxiety attacks (two or more anxiety attacks a month) should go to a doctor. It’s very likely that those who experience that many anxiety attacks have an anxiety or panic disorder. An anxiety attack is also often called a panic attack.

Regular anxiety attacks can prevent the person who experiences them from living a normal, happy life. Anyone of any adult age, from both genders, and of all races and economic backgrounds can have an anxiety attack.

Doctors and caregivers don’t know for sure what brings on an anxiety attack. But studies have shown that there are some health conditions and medications that might cause an anxiety attack. Anxiety attack triggers include withdrawing from alcohol or illegal drugs, a fear of having another anxiety attack, or heredity reasons.

An anxiety attack can bring on feelings of loneliness and a feeling of being out-of-touch with other people. There are other physical and emotional symptoms associated with an anxiety attack, but the main symptom is extreme fear. Some of the physical symptoms that can show up with an anxiety attack can feel like the symptoms of a serious health problem, like a heart attack.

The physical and emotional signs and symptoms of an anxiety attack rarely last longer than 30 minutes. The most intense symptoms of an anxiety attack usually peak within ten minutes. There have been a few rare cases where symptoms of an anxiety attack have lasted for hours.

Even though the physical and emotional signs and symptoms of an anxiety attack might last only minutes, the psychological symptoms can last much longer.

Those who experience anxiety attacks never know when an anxiety attack will hit them. A person might have an anxiety attack once a week. Or a person might have a series of anxiety attacks followed by months and months of no anxiety attacks.

This uncertainty coupled with the actual physical and emotional symptoms of an anxiety attack makes life very challenging for those who have anxiety attacks. Some people become so fearful of an anxiety attack coming at an inappropriate moment that they are afraid to leave their homes. This fear is often called agoraphobia.

The literal definition of agoraphobia is a fear of open spaces. This definition is often misleading and confusing, especially when used in reference to anxiety attacks. People experience anxiety attacks in all situations and statistically very few experience anxiety attacks in open spaces.

Agoraphobia often begins when a person experiences an anxiety attack in a specific situation. Even after a diagnosis is made and treatment begins, the person often convinces him or herself that the situation that caused an out-of-the-blue anxiety attack will cause numerous future anxiety attacks. So, naturally, the person avoids that situation.

Anxiety attack causing agoraphobia is two times more common in women than men. Well-known American celebrities who have admitted to experiencing agoraphobia related panic attacks include Kim Basinger and Barbara Streisand.

The symptoms of anxiety attacks can be defined as those feelings we experience when we feel we are in sudden danger. An Anxiety attack can often be a traumatic and scary experience. It is a period of sudden and intense fear or discomfort, typically with an abrupt onset and usually lasting for no more than 10 minutes. Sometimes someone can experience a panic attack all of a sudden without an obvious reason. Most people that experience one attack will usually experience another attack, and those who have recurring attacks, or feel severe anxiety about having another are said to have panic disorder.

Symptoms of a panic or anxiety attack are intense heartbeat, difficulty with breathing, palpitation, feeling sick, excessive sweating and trembling, chest pains, fearful of going crazy or about to die, sudden chills, and the like. Some people may experience different or more anxiety attack symptoms but this does not mean that their condition is far worse or that you are suffering from a different undiagnosed condition. Because we are all different, the symptoms during anxiety attacks can vastly vary. You might not find among the listed anxiety attack symptoms what you are experiencing and it may be tempting to think something is very wrong with you. The above list is just a guide only, as everyone reacts differently.

Anxiety attack may affect your quality of life if not given treatment immediately. As a human being, it is normal that we feel anxiety, worry and fear from time to time due to the things that our complicated lives bring. Anxiety is just a part of life. can help us cope with the stresses we may encounter. If you are in a state of anxiety on a regular basis, it is likely that you are experiencing anxiety attacks.

Anxiety attacks involve a sudden surge of overwhelming fear that comes without warning and without any obvious reason, and importantly it is far more intense than having normal anxiety or the feeling of being stressed. It is said that up to one in every 75 people will experience an anxiety attack at one point in their life.

A common feeling among sufferers of Anxiety is one of impending death, going crazy or losing control of emotions as well as behavior. Anxiety incidents create an overwhelming urge in many people to escape or run away from the place where the attack begins, and they are associated with chest pain or shortness of breath.

A person with a phobia will often experience an anxiety attack as a direct result to the phobia trigger. These anxiety attacks are brief and quickly relieved once the trigger is escaped. In the conditions of chronic anxiety, one anxiety attack can usually turn into another one, leading to a prolonged feeling of fatigue lasting many days.

Anxiety attack usually last for several minutes and is considered one of the most disturbing conditions that anyone can live through in everyday life. The step-by-step onset of anxiety generally follows the same pattern: first, comes the sudden jolt of fear with less or no triggering motivation, and then this will lead to a release of adrenaline (epinephrine), which causes the supposed fight-or-flight response, where the persons body prepares for major physical activity. This results in an increased heart rate, labored breathing or hyperventilation, and sweating. The diaphragm, involved in the action of the lungs, is also a muscle and it can become overly tight. If someone suffers from normal anxiety they often work too hard when breathing. However, if there is hyperanxiety or an anxiety attack, there is overwhelming excitement, and a person may hyperventilate.

Because strenuous activity hardly ever arises, this hyperventilation leads to carbon dioxide levels lowering in the lungs and then the blood, resulting to the shift in the pH of the blood, which will then lead to many of the other symptoms, such as tingling or numbness, dizziness, and lightheadedness.

It is certainly true that an anxiety attack is a serious problem, but before you start believing you have this condition and run to your doctor in panic, stop and take a deep breath! Relax before you actually cause an anxiety attack. Dont start worrying unduly that it may lead to something serious and may affect your daily routine. Take things slowly. In any case, if you think you have this condition, the first thing you should do is see a doctor. If you are diagnosed with anxiety attack condition, appropriate medication and good counseling can bring your life to normal again. If you do not have anxiety disorder you should accept occasionally you will feel anxiety, but this is natural and healthy.

Author: Craig Elliott

Anyone who has ever had a panic attack knows how life stopping these events can feel. A panic attack can seriously hurt your quality of life by causing you become terrified of a repeat episode. This terror is just another negative side effect of panic attacks, and you should learn to think of it as such so that you can get on with your life without the constant fear of a panic attack hanging over your head. Worrying about having a panic attack all the time might even cause you to trigger panic attacks later.

Panic attacks feel a lot like heart attacks
. A panic attack might cause your heart to race, and it might cause you to become short of breath. You might find that you feel dizzy or light headed, and they are characterized with the feeling of life or death importance. It is not uncommon to believe that you are dying or about to die when you are having a panic attack. Fortunately for sufferers, they are usually not of a long duration, and will stop when they have run their course, usually a few minutes, or when the cause of the panic is removed.

If you are terrified that you might have another panic attack, you may just end up cutting yourself off from everything in order to avoid having another. You might hide from the world, or otherwise separate yourself from the friends and family who might otherwise be able to help you. If this sounds familiar to you, then you need to consider seeking professional help to empower you to dispel the threat of panic attacks that hangs over your head.

You may also be able to help yourself by avoiding the situations that cause you to have your panic attacks in the first place. One of the biggest causes of panic attacks is stress, and if you are constantly in stressful situation, then you will be at a much higher risk for panic attacks in the future. This stress is not necessarily the stress that comes over a few days over a particular event; panic attacks are triggered by constant stress over a period of months or sometimes even longer. This stress is often too much for people to bear, and even if we do not realize that, our bodies do, and they rebel.

Panic attacks can also be caused by certain situations. If you get a panic attack every time you are running late, or stuck in traffic, or going over a bridge, then you need to make sure to avoid those situations to prevent these same events from triggering more panic attacks in the future. You can take a different route to work, leave early, and avoid roads that you know will be snarled with traffic or even head to a local place for dinner after work before facing the drive home.

If you practice avoiding panic attacks and chart where you were, what you were doing, and how you felt immediately prior to each panic attack, then you can use this information to avoid the things that trigger you. You may be able to save yourself a lot of trouble with your mental and even your physical health later down the road.

Panic attacks do not just feel remarkably like heart attacks; recent studies have linked experiencing panic attacks with an increased likelihood of actually having a heart attack later. Keep your odds low and keep your stress levels down to avoid panic attacks and to remain as healthy as possible. No one likes to suffer, and panic attacks certainly fall into the category of suffering.

If you are at risk for panic attacks or you have had them in the past, then you should examine the past causes of your panic attacks so that you can help yourself to avoid similar situations in the future. You should also get in contact with your doctor to find out if you may need medication or therapy to help you take charge of your life and get away from the panic attacks. It can be difficult to determine exactly the best means of preventing panic attacks, but you may get better results when pairing the practice of avoiding triggers with medication to help you feel calmer. A therapist can also help you learn mental tricks to help you ride through the panic attacks without completely losing your cool the next time you feel one coming on.
